Sur-Ron Light Bee 2 vs Light Bee X: Which One Should You Buy?

The Light Bee 2 is $5,149 and the Light Bee X is $3,749. Power, range, weight, parts and price side by side, using Sur-Ron's own figures.

We get this question more than any other right now: the new Light Bee 2 is $5,149 and the 2026 Light Bee X is $3,749. Is the new bike worth $1,400 more? It depends on what you ride and what you want to do to the bike afterwards. Here is the straight comparison, using Sur-Ron's own figures.

The short answer

  • Buy the Light Bee 2 if you want the most power and range you can get in a mid-size frame without modifying anything: more than twice the peak power, about 40 percent more claimed range and a bigger fork.
  • Buy the Light Bee X if you want the lighter bike, the lower price, or the biggest parts catalogue in the sport. Controllers, batteries, suspension and wheels are all off the shelf for it.

Range figures are Sur-Ron's claims at a steady 25 mph. Real trail range is lower on either bike and depends on rider weight, terrain and how hard you use the throttle.

Power and speed

This is the headline. The Light Bee 2 makes 24 kW at peak against the Light Bee X's 10 kW, and 410 Nm of torque against 295. Out of the box it is a different class of bike. To get a Light Bee X anywhere near that, riders usually add an aftermarket controller and a bigger battery, which is how most modified Light Bee Xs on the trail are built. Priced out, that route runs into real money quickly. If you were going to do it anyway, the Light Bee 2 gets you there stock.

Battery and range

The Light Bee 2 pack is 3,530 Wh against about 2,500 Wh, and Sur-Ron's steady-speed range goes from 46.6 miles to 67. Both packs lift out of the frame, so you can charge indoors. More battery is also most of the reason the Light Bee 2 is heavier.

Weight and chassis

At 130 lb the Light Bee X is 13 lb lighter, and on tight singletrack you feel it. It is easier to pick up, easier to load and easier to throw around. The Light Bee 2 answers with more suspension: a 38 mm Kashima-coated fork with 215 mm of travel against 200 mm. Both bikes have the same 830 mm seat height and the same 19/18 wheel sizes.

Parts and upgrades: the part most comparisons skip

The Light Bee X has the deepest aftermarket of any electric dirt bike, built over years. Almost anything you want to change has a bolt-on answer. One catch for 2026: the Light Bee X moved to a 72 V system, so 60 V batteries, chargers and controllers made for earlier models are not a drop-in fit. Ask us before you order electrical parts.

The Light Bee 2 is a new bike, and its parts are not the same as the Light Bee X's. Do not assume a Light Bee X part fits a Light Bee 2. Some listings online are tagged loosely, and that is an easy way to order the wrong thing. The Light Bee 2 aftermarket is still arriving. Until a part is confirmed for the Light Bee 2, we do not list it as a fit. If you are not sure, send us your bike and the part and we will tell you.

Price and availability

Both ship free by crated freight to anywhere in the lower 48. You can also pick up free in Colorado Springs, where every bike gets our pre-delivery inspection: uncrated, torqued, charged and test-ridden with you.

Which one should you buy?

Light Bee 2 if you ride fast and open terrain, want more range per charge, and would rather buy the performance than build it.

Light Bee X if you ride tight trails, want the lighter bike, want to spend less up front, or like building your bike your way with the widest choice of parts.

Frequently asked questions

Do Light Bee X parts fit the Light Bee 2?

Do not assume they do. The Light Bee 2 is a new design, and parts made for the Light Bee X, including the 2025 and 2026 model-year parts, are not Light Bee 2 parts. We only list a part as a Light Bee 2 fit once it is confirmed.

Is either bike street legal?

No. Both ship as off-road machines and are sold for off-road, private-property and closed-course use only. Check the rules where you ride.

How long does shipping take?

In-stock bikes ship within 3 business days and arrive in about a week. Reserve bikes ship when the shipment lands, and you can cancel for a full refund any time before your bike ships.
